Botanical Name: Eucalyptus Saligna
Source: Native to NSW & Queensland, Australia.
NZ stock is from plantations and farm woodlots.
Availability: A good regular supply at present.
Future uncertain.
Air Drying Density: 660 Kg/m3
Characteristics: It has an attractive tight interlocked
and textured grain. The sapwood is pale pink to straw and
heartwood pink to dark pink. Good lengths available.
Traditional uses: In Australia, this species is an
excellent general purpose building and finishing timber, especially
flooring. NZ stock has been used especially for flooring,
panelling and joinery.

Saligna is a dense, strong attractive timber that readily
accepts the Generation-4 finish.
The Generation-4 finish
presents a dense but flexible, low maintainance finish which
is waterproof, acid and heat resistant.
