Trade Name: Tawa
Botanical Name: Beilschmiedia Tawa

Source: A traditional New Zealand native hardwood, predominantly from the North Island.

Availability: Harvested according to a NZ Govt Sustainable Forest Management Plan (SFM)

Air Drying Density: 720 Kg/m3

Characteristics: Dry heartwood is bright creamy brown except for contrasting dark brown to black pathological heart in large logs. Sapwood is difficult to distinguish from white heartwood.

Traditional uses: Built-in furniture, internal joinery, flooring.

The Generation-4 finish presents a dense but flexible, low maintainance finish which is waterproof, acid and heat resistant.
